This coffee hails from the renowned Finca Lerida, the first coffee plantation established in Panama. Still celebrated today, it is known for producing some of the world's finest and most sought-after coffees. With its picturesque setting and captivating origin story, Finca Lerida has earned widespread recognition, and its true secret lies in the cup. Finca Lerida comprises five different farms, including Lerida Estate, where this particular lot was grown.

Founded in 1917 by Norwegian engineer Tollef Bache Mönniche, Finca Lerida is a significant coffee farm in Boquete, Panama. Mönniche, renowned for his role in building the Panama Canal, retired to Boquete with his wife Julia and purchased a remote area called "Lerida." Despite facing challenges, they developed the farm, owning 365 hectares and cultivating a thriving coffee plantation.

Mönniche's dedication to nature led to the conservation of 100 hectares of virgin jungle, acting as a crucial reserve and ensuring a water supply for coffee processing. His innovations, like the "sifon," are still used globally. In 1956, the Mönniches sold the farm, leaving a lasting legacy. Today, Maria Antonella Amoruso manages Finca Lerida, upholding its reputation for high-quality coffee and environmental preservation.

Lerida Estate, the main and largest farm within Finca Lerida estates, is located in Alto Quiel, a renowned coffee region in Boquete. Covering 70 hectares with 30 hectares of protected forest, it houses both wet and dry mills for all the farms. The estate grows various coffee varietals, including Geisha, Typica, SL28, SL34, Orange Bourbon, and Catuaí (Lot 9).

During the harvest, ripe cherries are meticulously handpicked, processed in the wet mill to remove external fruit and mucilage, and then sun-dried on patios for 12 days.

This coffee delights with a vibrant grape acidity, offering a juicy mouthfeel when served hot, transforming into a smooth and subtly syrupy texture. It unfolds with a medium intensity of honey-like sweetness, leaving a lingering violet floral note that adds to its exquisite charm.
